      "Iris is the Greek goddess for the Messenger of Love. Her sacred flower is considered the symbol of communication and messages. Greek men would often plant an iris on the graves of their beloved women as a tribute to the goddess Iris, whose duty it was to take the souls of women to the Elysian fields." - <The Stories of Flowers>

    I don't want to be planted on the graves, but I definitely want to be a messenger to spread ideas through my art work.

    My full name is Pei-Yun Lai, but I go by the name Iris. As an art director, I always challenge myself to not just do advertising, but to convey bigger and inspiring ideas through visual communication.

      The Big Rumble supports the Bay Area community by providing events and programs about earthquake preparedness resources. We use our concept, “This can be huge after an earthquake" to highlight the basic items in life that are incredibly helpful after a quake.

      We carry many different transit passes in our wallets but we actually only need one. The Clipper card is an all-in-one transit pass that is accepted throughout the Bay Area. We create a poker game "GO CLIPPER" to convey the idea of "Pick one or bring one."

      Borderlands is a local bookstore in San Francisco, specializing in fantasy and science fiction. Instead of giving out business cards, we developed a tear-off ad that people can tear off each piece and treat it as a bookmark that will also remind them to visit Borderlands Bookstore.

      Fred Perry Subculture is a music website bringing people the brightest young talent on the music scene. We shot this viral video to convey that we unearth the new music and unsigned bands, using an earphone-like stethoscope.

    Outside advertising, I am a website designer, production designer, and video editor. I built a website for a feature film, Some Guy Who Kills People, which was directed by Jack Perez. I joined several short films' shooting process as a production designer, and also designed the title sequence for a TV show called Cinepod, hosted by Roger Garcia.
